The 30% glass fiber reinforced injection moulding PBT resin provides a combination of properties important to the application, including excellent flow, long term dimensional stability, stiffness and strength over a wide temperature range and chemical resistance.Hitachi Automotive Systems Europe, Ltd., has selected a reinforced Arnite® polybutylene terephthalate (PBT) blend from DSM Engineering Plastics for injection moulded mass airflow sensor body destined for Audi engines. Arnite TV4 261 30% glass reinforced grade PBT provides a combination of properties important to the application, including excellent flow, long term dimensional stability, stiffness and strength over a wide temperature range and chemical resistance. Production requires only moulding – no annealing is required to relieve internal stresses that could lead to warpage.

Asian PPG Industries Ltd. to acquire auto refinish business of ICI India Ltd.

PPG IndustriesPITTSBURGH, Feb. 20, 2007 – PPG Industries (NYSE: PPG) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with ICI India Ltd., Mumbai, India, to facilitate the acquisition of ICI’s premium automotive refinish business. Upon closing, the business would be acquired by Asian PPG Industries Ltd., a 50 percent joint venture of PPG and Asian Paints Ltd., also of Mumbai. The closing is scheduled for mid-March and is subject to certain conditions. The transaction is valued at approximately $12 million.
