Cleaner, efficient production for Grupo Losán particleboard with new Milliken colorant
Grupo Losán has switched to a new polymeric colorant from Milliken Chemical to ensure a more efficient, environmentally- and user-friendly production process for its moisture-resistant particleboard. Thanks to the new colorant, Grupo Losán, one of the largest producers of particleboard in Spain, has successfully eliminated previous handling issues to achieve a smoother, more reliable and cleaner process for both its workforce and for the environment.

Kettering, UK. (October, 2006) – Sealed Air’s new SpeedyPacker® Insight™ packaging system takes the guess-work out of selecting the proper size foam-in-bag packaging. The system features a full-color, user-friendly graphical display with interactive technology. The graphical display console has six buttons with 26 selections, A through Z, allocated to each button, enabling customers to pre-program up to 156 foam-in-bag configurations.

British Vita’s TPE Group invest in clean compound technology and expand capacity
Manchester, U.K. – 11 October, 2006 – The VTC TPE Group, British Vita’s Thermoplastic Elastomer (TPE) Compounding Group, have invested £2.6 million (3.7 million euro) in clean technology at VTC Elastoteknik, the Group’s Swedish production facility. The investment includes a fourth production line, which will come on stream in September 2006 and will increase production by 4,000 tonnes per annum bringing the capacity of the Group to more than 35,000 tonnes.

Borealis’ bottling innovation gives on-and off-the-shelf benefits to KKT
Kaller Kunststoff Technik GmbH (KKT), a specialist in the production of plastic bottles for the food, beverage, cosmetic and paint industry, has selected a biaxially oriented polypropylene (PP) grade from Borealis to manufacture injection stretch blow moulded (ISBM) bottles for water-based paint. The choice of this material gives KKT a competitive edge in this specialised market traditionally dominated by extrusion blow moulded high density polyethylene (HDPE)-based bottles. Lower production costs, improved aesthetics and better impact resistance are among the advantages provided by Borealis’ PP ISBM grade RF926MO.

New European Production Location and Expanded Capacity to Benefit Customers of GE Plastics’ “xtreme” Lexan* Resins
BERGEN OP ZOOM, THE NETHERLANDS — October 5, 2006 — To provide a European source of supply for its line of “xtreme” Lexan* polycarbonate (PC) resins while boosting overall capacity by approximately 300%, GE Plastics today announced it will expand production of these specialty products beyond the United States. The company will invest 62 million Euro to retrofit its Lexan Resin facility in Bergen op Zoom for the manufacture of Lexan EXL, SLX, DMX, and XHT copolymer resins, giving European customers the advantage of shorter delivery times. Broader availability of these unique materials will help more customers differentiate their applications and achieve new levels of performance, processability, and aesthetics.
