New European Production Location and Expanded Capacity to Benefit Customers of GE Plastics’ “xtreme” Lexan* Resins
BERGEN OP ZOOM, THE NETHERLANDS — October 5, 2006 — To provide a European source of supply for its line of “xtreme” Lexan* polycarbonate (PC) resins while boosting overall capacity by approximately 300%, GE Plastics today announced it will expand production of these specialty products beyond the United States. The company will invest 62 million Euro to retrofit its Lexan Resin facility in Bergen op Zoom for the manufacture of Lexan EXL, SLX, DMX, and XHT copolymer resins, giving European customers the advantage of shorter delivery times. Broader availability of these unique materials will help more customers differentiate their applications and achieve new levels of performance, processability, and aesthetics.

Grote investering van GE Plastics in productiecapaciteit “xtreme” Lexan* materialen op locatie Bergen op Zoom
BERGEN OP ZOOM — 4 oktober, 2006 — GE Plastics maakt vandaag een investeringplan bekend van 62 miljoen euro voor de productiecapaciteit van “xtreme” Lexan* Polycarbonaat (PC) resins in haar Lexan resin fabriek te Bergen op Zoom. De onderneming zal bestaande capaciteit ombouwen voor de productie van deze hoogwaardige polymeren, waaronder Lexan EXL, SLX, DMX en XHT resins. Deze investering maakt het ook mogelijk om andere innovatieve co-polymeren te produceren, die op dit moment in ontwikkeling zijn. De nieuwe materialen zullen worden geproduceerd door gebruik te maken van de huidige personeelsbezetting van de Lexan resin fabriek.

Grendene uses Eastman’s Spectar® Copolyester for new point of purchase shoe display
CAPELLE A/D IJSSEL, THE NETHERLANDS - Transparency and high impact resistance were the main reasons behind Plano Trio’s, a design company, decision to use sheets made of Spectar® copolyester resin from Eastman Chemical Company when conceiving a POP display for Grendene’s point of purchase spots. The showcase has been used to display Grendene’s Rider shoes at sales spots in more than 85 countries around the world.

One-material automotive solution from Borealis awarded prize by Society of Plastics Engineers
