DSM to build two new engineering plastic plants at Chemelot site, Geleen (NL)
Royal DSM N.V. today announces that it has decided to construct two new manufacturing facilities at its Chemelot site in Geleen, the Netherlands. DSM is making these investments in response to excellent market growth for two of the company’s top specialty products, Stanyl® polyamide 46 and Stamylan® UH ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene, which is used among other things as a raw material for Dyneema® high strength fibers. The new Stanyl® plant and the new Stamylan® facility, which will each double existing production capacity, are scheduled to come on line in 2008. The total investment will be around EUR 100 million.

Belden HDTV cables exceed the standard
Belden’s range of Brilliance™ broadcast video coax cables, designed for maximum bandwidth, minimum return loss and minimum attenuation loss already meet the very tight specifications for electrical properties. Now to make them ideally suited for 1080P HDTV/SDI applications, their performance specifications are extended from 3GHz to 4.5 GHz. In addition, every reel is sweep tested for return loss and certified to the new, higher frequency.

DNV certificeert (alweer) ruim 40 VBO-makelaars
Rotterdam, 4 september 2006 – DNV Certification BV reikt op 11 september certificaten uit aan meer dan 40 VBO-makelaars. Na afschaffing van de beëdiging van makelaars en taxateurs in 2001 groeide de behoefte naar een objectieve kwaliteitswaarborg. Een certificaat waarmee de makelaar kan aantonen dat hij voldoet aan bepaalde - concrete - kwaliteitseisen. Hiertoe richtte de VBO (Vereniging Bemiddeling Onroerend Goed), de snelst groeiende en meest actieve brancheorganisatie voor makelaars in onroerend goed, de Stichting Certificering VBO Makelaar (SCVM) op. In 2001 ging VBO met DNV (Det Norske Veritas) in zee en werd een sluitend certificatieschema ontwikkeld. De eerste certificaten werden in maart 2002 uitgereikt.

Distrupol and ENGEL extend ‘no charge’ training programme for the plastics industry
Building on the success of their joint workshop and training programmes launched in 2005, to deliver technical training in plastic technology to industry participants, Distrupol and Engel have announced they will host a new series of training courses commencing in October 2006. The programme will be conducted under the banner of the ENGEL Moulders’ Group and held at their UK headquarters’ in Warwick. As before, the courses are open to the industry at large and will be ‘free-of-charge’.

Distrupol Nordic expands range with NOVA Innovene polystyrene
Effective July 1st, 2006, Distrupol Nordic is the new distributor for NOVA Innovene’s full range of polystyrene products, including all of its innovative specialities, in Denmark, Norway and Sweden. Distrupol Nordic previously distributed polystyrenes from Innovene prior to its joint venture with NOVA Chemicals polystyrene business.

LE TPEE ARNITEL® ASSURE LA REPRODUCTIBILITE DES PERFORMANCES ET UNE LONGUE DUREE DE SERVICE AUX ABSORBEURS DE CHOC FERROVIAIRES DUREL
Un développement conjoint de Durel GmbH et de DSM Engineering Plastics dans le domaine ferroviaire a permis de mettre au point une gamme d’absorbeurs pour tampons latéraux, organes d’attelage et – pour les applications à sécurité accrue – tampons anti collision capables d’absorber des énergies élevées. Leur conception fait appel à une combinaison de métal et d’élastomère thermoplastique ester (TPEE) Arnitel®. Se comportant comme un ressort, le TPEE Arnitel absorbe et libère l’énergie de manière prévisible sur une longue durée de service et contribue ainsi à éliminer les à coups au démarrage, à l’accélération, à la décélération et à l’arrêt des trains. Contrairement aux métaux, le TPEE Arnitel ne rouille pas, ne se dégrade pas, ne se fissure pas et conserve son effet ressort. Contrairement au caoutchouc, le TPEE Arnitel conserve durablement son effet ressort: la durée de service de ce matériau de DSM est d’au moins 20 ans, contre 5 à 10 ans pour le caoutchouc.
