New Borealis Borpact™ PP packaging grade delivers unique optical performance
Borealis brings a new polypropylene Borpact™ grade to film converters and product manufacturers, which offers solutions to the packaging industry due to a unique combination of good low temperature resistance, high stiffness, high heat resistance plus excellent optical properties. Food packaging, pouches, peelable lidding film and film bottle labels are among the application areas set to benefit from Borpact BC914TF. With this development, polypropylene can be used in a number of new sectors, such as in labelling and modified atmospheric packaging (MAP) trays for meat and fruit. Borpact BC914TF is available through Borouge, the distributor and marketer of Borealis’ speciality polyolefins in the Middle East and Asia Pacific.

NatureWorks LLC Joins Biodegradable Plastics Exhibition
NatureWorks LLC – the world’s leading supplier of commercially available polylactide (PLA) polymers that are derived 100 percent from annually renewable resources – and its partners will showcase NatureWorks PLA and Ingeo fiber products at the Biodegradable Plastics Exhibition opening today at Beijing Chuangye Plaza. Insulating panels of polycarbonate twin-wall sheet filled with Nanogel™ translucent aerogel from Cabot offer superior thermal and sound insulation while at the same time providing even and pleasant “museum quality” diffused light. In a recent successful application, Nanogel filled PC panels were installed between two layers of hardened Profilit™ profiled glass to clad the walls on the front and rear of two upper storeys added to the historic Ibscherhaus in Munich, Germany.

Synventive valve gate cylinders improve ability to retain maximum glass fiber length in the molded part

Synventive Molding Solutions has developed two types of valve gate cylinders for hot runner systems that fea-ture a very large stroke as well as an optimized melt flow channel, both greatly improving the ability to retain maximum glass fiber length in the molded part.

UTECH Europe 2006: Voor de laatse trends op het gebied van polyurethaan
Van 28 tot en met 30 maart vindt in het MECC te Maastricht de beurs UTECH Europe plaats. UTECH Europe is een internationale beurs voor de polyuretaan industrie. Polyurethaan (PU) is de grondstof voor één van de meest veelzijdige kunststoffen die er bestaat. Zo worden polyurethanen onder andere tot harsen, schuimen, elastomeren, kitten, lijmen en lakken verwerkt. Schoenzolen, autozittingen en de isolatie van een koelkast – overal zit polyurethaan in.

Pipe industry benefits from unique Borealis injection moulding grade for PE100 fittings
Borealis has launched Borstar® HE3490-IM, a unique polyethylene (PE) grade specifically for the injection moulding of PE100 pressure pipe fittings. This solution provides the fitting manufacturers with a better alternative to the extrusion materials which they currently use – a material that combines the higher pressure performance of a PE100 material with the processing friendliness of a PE80. The whole value chain from fittings manufacturer to pipe producer, contractor and pipeline owner will benefit from the greater consistency in overall quality and performance achieved with this grade.

Borouge 2 moves ahead with new contract awards
