Great Lakes announces price increase for a range of brominated flame retardants
INDIANAPOLIS, INDIANA—Great Lakes Chemical Corporation (NYSE:GLK) today announced a worldwide price increase of 10 percent for a range of brominated flame retardants, effective for shipments after December 7, 2003, or where contracts allow.

Borealis reports third quarter profit
In the context of strong polyolefin market demand, lower polyolefin prices and higher feedstock costs Borealis achieved an operating profit of EUR 7 million and a net profit of EUR 3 million in the third quarter. Borealis’ volumes were up 12% from the second quarter and increased 19% compared to the third quarter of 2002. Due to the squeezed industry margins the results were well below the EUR 54 million operating profit and EUR 25 million net profit for third quarter last year.

First Installation of Nanogel® Translucent Aerogel Daylighting Panels Completed In Europe.
Swiss building materials manufacturer Scobalit, has completed the first European installation of Scobatherm® Nanogel® daylighting panels filled with Nanogel® Translucent Aerogel from Cabot Corporation (NYSE:CBT). The panels were produced and installed by Scobalit in a school building project in Zurich.
