Micro Compact Cars (MCC), a European auto manufacturer has selected GE Plastics’ new LEXAN® SLX film for the hard top cover application of its new Smart Roadster-Coupe. The body panels on the both the new Smart Roadster and Smart Roadster-Coupe also use molded-in-color and impact-resistant XENOY® resin from GE Plastics. The new Smart Roadster, only available in Europe, will be displayed the first time in the U.S. in the GE Plastics’ booth at the National Plastics Exposition in Chicago.

FiskeFiske Benelux, a Univar company and leading specialist distributor of food and beverage ingredients, has signed a distribution agreement for the Benelux countries with the Dutch farming co-operative, Avebe.

INNOVATIVE NORYL® PKN RESIN FROM GE PLASTICS DESIGNED FOR FREEZER-TO-MICROWAVE PACKAGING

DeSter.ACS, a custom manufacturer of food delivery systems, is using NORYL PKN4766 resin for the transparent top in its microwaveable-hinged container and PKN 4765 resin for the black bottom tray. John Squire, DeSter's Director of Marketing and Development, said, "This is the industry's first microwaveable packaging, and it has been very well received in the marketplace. BERGEN OP ZOOM—June 23, 2003—Black and white may seem like primary colors to the general populace, but in the exclusive world of product designers these colors are the next “hot” trend. According to a 2003 color and effects guide developed for GE Plastics by design and strategy consultancy Polymer Solutions Inc., a joint venture between industry design giant Fitch Richardson Smith, Inc., and GE, black and white -- plus all the variations on each -- will be a key consumer product design element over the next year. Responding to this trend, GE Plastics unveiled a new dark and light palette for its Visualfx™ resin portfolio that includes new Earth Elements, Glacial Elements, Alliage™ resin effect and Tempulse™ resin effect.

 Cincinnati Extrusion GmbH, Vienna, Austria, has just received the largest order in its history. Dalian Shide Plastic Industry Co., which has already been a customer of the Austrian machine manufacturer for a number of years, has now ordered 165 new extruders. Dalian Shide plans to extend its production capacity to more than one million tons, and thus to become the world’s number one manufacturer of plastics profiles.
