Chemtura Corporation (formerly Crompton and Great Lakes) will present their extensive line of plastics additives for the polyolefins,pvc and engineering plastics industries , and flame retardant products at the 21st International Exhibition on Plastics & Rubber Industries. INNOVATION WITH DYNEEMA® IN UNDERWATER PIPE-LAYING OPERATIONS
Urmond, April 4, 2007 – Allseas Group S.A., a Swiss offshore pipelaying company, has collaborated with DSM Dyneema to improve the safety and speed of underwater pipe-laying using next-generation rope technology. The two companies have worked to replace traditional steel wire rope used to adjust pipelay stingers with a new product from BEXCOropes that is made with ultra-strong, lightweight polyethylene Dyneema® fiber. The new rope, which has been installed on Allseas’ pipe-laying vessel Audacia, enables faster, easier and safer operations.

Brenntag Oil & Gas offers a safe alternative for catalyst pre-sulphiding
Brenntag Oil & Gas Europe, one of the largest worldwide chemical distributors, offers through their partner, Lubrizol Corporation, the next generation catalyst sulphiding agent: SulfrZol® 54. With a flash point of 100 ºC, this product is much safer than traditional sulphiding agents, such as DMDS (di-methyl di-sulphide). The material, a thermoplastic polyolefin (TPO) compound, has been specifically tailored to meet BMW’s exacting specifications for the new BMW X5 regarding improved production cost, safety, high quality aesthetics and environmental performance. The resulting TPO fender is the most complex and highly integrated, class A body application to be seen in production to date.

The product is manufactured in Europe, and provides a significantly better alternative for users of existing SMA products. In addition, the product's properties and performance may well provide new opportunities for parts manufacturers who currently use other materials such as Polyamide, PPLGF, PPEPDM or ABS blends. In recent tests for a specific automotive application, XIRAN® delivered a significant weight saving compared to glass reinforced Polyamide as well as a considerable decrease in cycle-time.
