New Managing Director for DNV Benelux, UK and Ireland

As from 1 January 2007, DNV (Det Norske Veritas) has appointed Tom Backelin (left) as Managing Director for DNV Benelux, UK and Ireland. Tom will be taking over from Richard Stolk (right). Richard has been appointed Director of Operations in North and Central America.Rotterdam, 10 January 2007 – As from 1 January 2007, DNV (Det Norske Veritas) has appointed Tom Backelin as Managing Director for DNV Benelux, UK and Ireland. Within this capacity, he will be responsible for the operational and commercial activities in these countries. Tom, who has been with DNV since 1974, is a highly experienced manager who has held multiple high-profile positions within DNV and has lots of experience in the geographical regions that are part of his new post. ‘Within my new capacity, I shall further develop the policy pursued by Richard Stolk with the following objective: protecting life, property and providing further support for the environment’, Tom Backelin explains. ‘Through the new organisation and a new office in the Netherlands, the preconditions to further develop our strong market position in the field of certification have been met’.

OMV and IPIC plan to consolidate their chemistry activities into subsidiary Borealis

In this context OMV, together with its core shareholder International Petroleum Investment Company (IPIC), is planning on incorporating AMI Agrolinz Melamine International GmbH (AMI), one of the leading international producers of melamine and plant nutrients into Borealis. OMV and IPIC each hold 50% of AMI. The final decision will be made in the course of the first half of 2007.

QUADRANT CMS TAPS INTO BEVERAGE MARKET WITH BEER DELIVERY COMPONENTS

Quadrant CMS won the order from Heineken Beer Systems to produce and package the polypropylene tap system for its Draught Keg – a portable and disposable system for serving quality draught beer. TIELT, BELGIUM – December 20 2006 – A multi-part beer-tap system, injection-molded by Quadrant CMS (Creative Moulding & Systems) from polypropylene, is a critical, consumer-interfacing component on the new 5-litre, single-use Draught Keg from Heineken Beer Systems. Its production represents a first venture into the beverage market for Quadrant CMS while pursuing its strategy of developing and producing polymer-based parts for function-critical systems. Heineken opted to work with Quadrant CMS due to the company’s technical ability in injection molding and assembly, high level of automation and partnership approach.
