New Liquid Silicone Rubber Grade from GE Advanced Materials Offers Improved Oil and Fuel Resistance, Excellent Processability

Seals made out of FSL 7586/40 e.g. for usage in automotive applications

With the commercial launch of FSL 7586/40 TP3854, GE Advanced Materials is introducing a new liquid silicone rubber (LSR) grade that combines improved oil and fuel resistance, self-lubricating performance, and excellent processing properties. This fast-curing silicone elastomer may be used for gasketing and sealing applications, such as those found in under-the-hood automotive applications that require occasional contact with automotive fuels or long-term contact with most automotive oils like connector gaskets and parts in air-intake systems.
GE’s innovative formulation of its new FSL 7586/40 TP3854 grade incorporates tailored fluorine structures that enable it to help deliver processing performance similar to non-fluorinated LSRs, but with greatly enhanced chemical resistance. GE’s Conductive, Powder-Coatable Noryl GTX* Resins Help Eliminate Paint, Open Vast, New Design Options for Furniture Makers

GE PlasticsBERGEN OP ZOOM, NETHERLANDS — May 18, 2005 — GE’s Noryl GTX* resins, a family of widely used conductive grades originally developed for European automotive manufacturers, are becoming equally successful in a new industry – office furniture. Specifically, Noryl GTX conductive resin is being used in powder-coated moulded plastic furniture, providing a host of design, aesthetic, environmental, and cost benefits compared to moulded-in colour, wet-painted parts, and even powder-coated metal. Among these are greater design freedom that helps enable part consolidation, lower weight than metal, and the elimination of paint solvents that can negatively impact the environment.
