Borealis reports third quarter profit

BorealisIn the context of strong polyolefin market demand, lower polyolefin prices and higher feedstock costs Borealis achieved an operating profit of EUR 7 million and a net profit of EUR 3 million in the third quarter. Borealis’ volumes were up 12% from the second quarter and increased 19% compared to the third quarter of 2002. Due to the squeezed industry margins the results were well below the EUR 54 million operating profit and EUR 25 million net profit for third quarter last year.

First Installation of Nanogel® Translucent Aerogel Daylighting Panels Completed In Europe.

In Europe, Nanogel® filled polyester panels were used in roofing and façade elements in a recent completed state-owned school in Zurich, Switzerland. Scobalit, Winterthur, produced roofing materials measuring 2000 x 2000mm and façade panels measuring 5000 x 2500mm, both in 50mm gauge, covering 1000m2 and 350m2 respectively.  Swiss building materials manufacturer Scobalit, has completed the first European installation of Scobatherm® Nanogel® daylighting panels filled with Nanogel® Translucent Aerogel from Cabot Corporation (NYSE:CBT). The panels were produced and installed by Scobalit in a school building project in Zurich.
