NEW FASSON PIGGYBACK ‘LABEL WITHIN A LABEL’ CONSTRUCTION FOR LASER, COPIER AND INKJET PRE-PRINT

Leiden, The Netherlands, Avery Dennison Roll Materials Europe have added yet another dimension to that prime example of the functionality of the self-adhesive laminate: the ‘label within a label’ constructions. Now there is a new Fasson Piggyback Copyback product which is specially-optimised for digital print on the top label, opening up new markets for this established labelstock range.

Fasson Piggyback LCJ Flex Copyback is a real innovation in multi-layer label constructions, developed to meet the needs of end-use markets where there is a need for colour print on the top label layer, but a run length insufficient to justify conventional print. Alternatively, the laminate can be pre-printed by conventional flexo, letterpress or offset, and subsequently overprinted with any of the desktop digital print processes plus dot matrix, which is needed to create an image on the second label layer underneath.

Fasson Piggyback LCJ Flex Copyback’s top label layer is a white, TCF, matt, woodfree paper offering first-class print results with all print processes – particularly colour and monochrome inkjet printers, laser printers, and copiers.

The second label layer is Fasson Copyback – a one-side siliconised PE-coated self-copying paper, which gives excellent imaging results with dot matrix print – the essential print process for self-copying paper.

Both label layers are coated with Fasson S692N adhesive – a versatile, permanent acrylic emulsion adhesive with a minimum application temperature requirement of +5 deg C. The adhesive’s wide service temperature range – -20 deg C to +80 deg C, makes the laminate suitable for use in warm or cool conditions – and even on prepacked foods for freezer storage after labelling. It can also withstand temperatures of +100 deg C for up to one hour. Fasson S692N has BfR approval for direct food contact on dry, moist, non-fatty and non-alcoholic foodstuffs.

Completing the laminate is Fasson BG40 Brown supercalendered siliconised glassine release liner, which offers high tensile strength for smooth diecutting, converting and label dispensing.

Fasson Piggyback LCJ Flex Copyback joins the established range of Fasson ‘label within a label’constructions – both self-copying laminates and simple non-self-copying multi-layer labels – that span virtually every application. All the core facepapers in the Fasson range are available as the label layers, combined with a multi-purpose permanent adhesive – Vellum Extra, MC Primecoat, Fasson Coat, and HGW Premium – with a choice of backings for the second label layer.
