AMSTERDAM, THE NETHERLANDS, February 8, 2018 - In response to customer needs, SABIC has announced projects in Asia and the Netherlands designed to increase global capacity for two of its high-performance engineering thermoplastic materials, ULTEM™ and NORYL™ resins. To increase capacity for ULTEM™ resins, a polyetherimide material, SABIC plans to expand its existing footprint in Singapore where it currently has compounding operations, pending final government clearance. The planned new production facility in Singapore is expected to go online in the first half of 2021. The company also plans to recommission operations at its Bergen op Zoom PPE resin plant in the Netherlands by the end of 2019 to produce polyphenylene ether (PPE), the base resin for its line of NORYL™ resins and oligomers.

Frankfurt, Germany, November 16, 2017 - SABIC, a global leader in the chemical industry, today introduced to the European market a family of high-performance THERMOCOMP™ AM compounds to address the unique requirements of large format additive manufacturing. Here at Formnext 2017, in stand 3.1-G78, the company is exhibiting these eight new compounds, developed for use in large-format pellet-fed extruders. Print parameters and mechanical property data for the materials – developed by SABIC using test specimens printed on the company’s in-house BAAM® printer – are available to aid customers in expediting material selection and optimizing processing conditions. Because they are reinforced with carbon or glass fibers for added strength, the new THERMOCOMP™ AM compounds can be used for demanding applications in the tooling, aerospace, automotive and defense industries.

CERAFILTEC Promises “Clean Water Everywhere” with Unique Ceramic Filtration Module Molded from SABIC NORYL™ Resin
Amsterdam, the Netherlands, November 2, 2017 - According to the United Nations1, water shortages will affect two-thirds of the world's population by 2025 if current consumption patterns continue. CERAFILTEC, a manufacturer of innovative water filtration solutions, is helping to address this looming crisis with a unique filtration module molded from SABIC’s NORYL™ glass-reinforced polyphenylene ether (PPE) resin. The new module securely houses multiple high-performance silicon carbide (SiC) flat sheet membranes that can quickly and effectively filter demanding water sources, including seawater, freshwater, industrial wastewater and even hot water.
