About Biopark Terneuzen
Established in February 2007, Biopark Terneuzen is an initiative that represents new thinking in the creation of biobased industrial sustainability. Biopark Terneuzen was initiated by the Zeeland Province, Zeeland Seaports and the participating industrial parties. Building on the economic and knowledge transfer advantages obtained through the co-location of associated businesses, Biopark Terneuzen raises the platform to a higher level. Its core mission is the development of the biobased industry in the Kanaalzone. One of the ways to pursue this goal is smart linking. That promotes and facilitates the exploitation of key synergies between its partner companies. Specifically the potential to exchange and utilise each other’s by-products and waste streams as feedstock or utility supplements for their own processes. Ghent Bio-Energy Valley is supporting the development of sustainable biobased activities in the region of Ghent, Belgium. Ghent Bio-Energy Valley is a joint initiative of Ghent University, the City of Ghent, the Port of Ghent, the Development Agency East-Flanders and a number of industrial companies that are active in the fields of the generation, distribution, storage and use of bio-energy and biobased products. Bio Base Europe benoemt Peter van de Bilt als financieel adviseur
Gent, 18 november 2009 – Bio Base Europe, het gezamenlijke initiatief van Biopark Terneuzen en Ghent Bio-Energy Valley, heeft het team versterkt met de benoeming van Peter van de Bilt als financieel adviseur. In zijn nieuwe rol is Van de Bilt verantwoordelijk voor het geven van financiële raad en advies voor startende bedrijven aan beide zijden van de grens, evenals aan gezamenlijke initiatieven van Belgische en Nederlandse ondernemingen, in de biogebaseerde industrie.

Bio Base Europe trainingscentrum opent in 2011
Gent, 27 oktober 2009 – Bio Base Europe, het in april 2009 opgestarte gezamenlijke project van Biopark Terneuzen en Ghent Bio-Energy Valley, laat weten dat het nieuwe trainingscentrum voor biogebaseerde industrie op schema ligt om begin 2011 geopend te worden. Dit initiatief van Bio Base Europe is het eerste in zijn soort en omvat zowel een proeffabriek als een trainingscentrum, speciaal opgezet voor de biogebaseerde industrie. Daarnaast wil het project een stimulans zijn voor de versnelde ontwikkeling van een duurzame, op biogrondstoffen gebaseerde economie in Europa. Bio Base Europe is het grootste door Interreg gesteunde project langs de Nederlands-Belgische grens en moet de regio te positioneren als de belangrijkste bio-economische toegangspoort naar het Europese continent.

Bio Base Europe ontwikkelt Kanaalzone Gent-Terneuzen tot Europese topregio voor biogebaseerde economie
Gent, 7 mei, 2009 – Patricia Ceysens, Vlaams minister van Economie, Ondernemen, Wetenschap, Innovatie en Buitenlandse Handel, en Cees Kortleve, Plaatsvervangend Directeur Ruimtelijk Economisch Beleid van het Nederlandse Ministerie van Economische Zaken, hebben op maandag 27 april het officiële startsein gegeven voor Bio Base Europe. Dit Vlaams-Nederlandse samenwerkingsproject moet de kanaalzone Gent-Terneuzen omvormen tot het belangrijkste centrum voor de biogebaseerde economie in Europa. Dit initiatief helpt de overgang naar een duurzame biogebaseerde economie versnellen, door middel van technologische innovatie en opleidingen.
